Killmeier, Van Wert concert set for Feb. 5 at First PresbyterianAs the third in the Winter Concert series, and just in time for Valentines Day, on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m., First Presbyterian Peachtree City will present an evening of love songs and duets from musicals and operettas featuring baritone Bill Killmeier and soprano Cynthia Van Wert. Recently heard as Sharpless in the Atlanta Operas production of Madame Butterfly at the Atlanta Civic Center, Killmeier sang for nearly 13 years in various opera houses throughout Germany, Austria and Ireland. During this time he performed more than 60 operatic roles and most recently sang the role of Fred/Petruchio in Cole Porters Kiss Me Kate in Innsbruck, Austria. A regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Audition Competition and the winner of the University of Tennessee Concerto Competition, Van Werts solo performance experience includes opera, oratorio, musical theater and outdoor drama, as well as recitals. The two will be accompanied by pianist Bill Callaway, former accompanist for the UGA University Chorus, organist for Chamblee United Methodist Church, and accompanist for the West Atlanta/Douglas Choral Society. Evenings begin with dinner at 7 p.m., followed by entertainment at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the 2005 Youth Mexico Mission Trip Fund.
