Kirby-SmithMrs. Mendy Kirby of Fayetteville and Greg Kirby of Glenview, Ill., announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Carrie Allison Kirby, to Julius Smith III, son of Mrs. Glenda Smith of Peachtree City and Julius Smith Jr. of Douglasville. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brown of Griffin, and Mrs. June Kirby and the late John Kirby of Griffin. She is a 1996 graduate of Fayette County High School and a 2000 graduate of the State University of West Georgia where she received a B.S. in early childhood education. She currently is earning a masters degree in curriculum, instruction and assessment at Walden University. She is a third grade teacher at Peachtree City Elementary School. The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Eloise Bolan and the late W.D. Bolan Sr. of Fayetteville, and Julius T. Smith Sr. and the late Mrs. Mabel Smith of Atlanta. A 1981 graduate of Riverdale Senior High School, he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, where he was graduated with a B.S. in professional aeronautics and technical operations management. He is completing an executive MBA program at Shorter College. Currently, he works at Delta Air Lines as an account manager in technical sales and marketing. The wedding will be Feb. 19, 2005, at 4 p.m., at Lisbon Baptist Church in Fayetteville. A reception will follow at the church, with a family gathering afterwards at Arnold Palmers at Starrs Mill. After a honeymoon, the couple will reside in Newnan. Parker-MatthewsMr. and Mrs. J. Philip Parker of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristin Marie Parker, to Brian Christopher Matthews, son of Victor and Charlotte Matthews of Cartersville. The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of McIntosh High School in Peachtree City and will graduate from Berry College in April, 2005. The groom-elect is a 1997 graduate of Bad Kreuznach American High School in Germany. He presently is employed at Sun Trust Bank and will graduate from Kennesaw State University in 2006. The wedding will be Oct. 8, 2005, at Frost Chapel on the Berry College campus. A reception will follow at Zion Farms. |
