District voting meeting set for Sat.State Rep. Virgil Fludd, chairman of the Fayette County delegation to the Georgia General Assembly, has announced a series of public meetings to be held in Fayette County. These meetings will allow the citizens of Fayette County to express their views on the topic of district voting. The first meeting is Saturday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. until noon at North Fayette Elementary School. Currently, several members of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners are elected to represent distinct districts within Fayette County; however, these district representatives are voted on at-large by all of the citizens of Fayette County. The public meetings will focus on the question of whether the district representatives should be elected only by the citizens they are to represent on the commission. Additional meetings are being planned in South Fayette and Peachtree City. Meeting dates and times are to be announced. The Fayette County Delegation encourages all citizens of Fayette County to attend the meetings to express their views on this topic. For more information, contact 770-486-0942. |
