Upcoming events to showcase Village of GingercakeThe Village of Gingercake, a condo community for older active adults, recently celebrated the grand opening of its clubhouse with more than 100 guests. New homeowners and visitors alike were able to enjoy the atmosphere of their new community and meet future neighbors and friends. In addition to an excellent meal and great music, people were able to get a taste of the new world they are about to enter. They mingled and traded stories with peers. Near the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Gingercake Road, the community is convenient to Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Eckerd, and just a few miles from downtown Fayetteville and Fayette Pavilion. As residents and guests explored the new clubhouse, Chuck Bernstein, president of Harvest Active Adult Communities LLC, said, Our goal is to cater to the needs of the 55-and-older community. The average age of our homeowners is 66 but we have residents who are as young as 49 and some who are over 80. They are all attracted to the maintenance-free, carefree lifestyle this type of community provides. It is a great way to spend the best years of your life. The 68-home communitys clubhouse is 3,000 square feet. This is over twice the size of a clubhouse you would normally find in a community of this size. Its big enough for any individual resident and their extended family and friends. Amenities include meeting rooms, office space and a fully equipped kitchen. In addition, the clubhouse features a separate exercise room with all the latest up-to-date equipment. There is also an expansive sundeck surrounding the heated pool. A community feeling abounds, as residents will be able to mingle, exercise, and relax with like-minded neighbors. The Village of Gingercake has also added a unique feature: a park with a gazebo and walking trails. This is a landscaping feature Bernstein is particularly proud of. When we started grading the site, we discovered a wetland area we had to deal with, said Bernstein. After we graded the wet area out, the land looked like a crater. So we asked our development director Nick Brown to find another approach. Nick and his team came up with a design for a small park with a gazebo and walking trails. This transformed an eye sore into the signature feature of the community. Each of the two and three bedroom homes has an oversized, attached two-car garage. The expansive floor plans have strategic storage space. Theres also space available in the garage for a full sized washer and dryer. The ranch-style, single level homes are developed from an award winning design. Signature touches, such as arched windows, gourmet kitchens, Jacuzzi tubs, and upgraded appliances give each home a flavor of individuality, elegance and class. The design of the neighborhood, as well as the beautiful landscaping and abundance of trees, shrubs, and flowers give this community the feeling of an intimate village. The best part of it all is the maintenance free lifestyle. The only thing you will miss out on by living here is mowing, pulling weeds, and climbing stairs, Bernstein said. Its nice to know you can get to the airport in less than 30 minutes, take a two-week trip and be assured that your home will be in the same condition in was when you left. The first phase sold out in less than a month, Bernstein said, with presales for the entire community that have approached 45 percent. We are encouraging anyone and everyone interested in this type of lifestyle to seek out our community soon. A price increase is scheduled for the mid-February, Bernstein said. The response has been tremendous. We couldnt be happier, he added. And, we need to accelerate our building schedule. We have 26 families ready to move in. Upcoming events include a potluck dinner Jan. 20, a Valentines Day dinner Feb. 17, and a St. Patricks Day party March 17, all from 5-7 p.m. Bring your favorite side or dessert to share if you want and visit this new community. Everyone is welcome. For information, call Kelly Gamble at 678-817-6255. |
