Looking for a deal? Head to Union City

Residents looking to pick up some relatively cheap housing need to circle July 6 on their calendar.

A large crowd is expected to gather on the steps of City Hall in Union City for one of the largest tax sales in recent history.

More than 40 parcels are slated to be sold due to delinquent city taxes. The total value of delinquent taxes is more than $27,000.

The lowest tax bill due is $214.69 for a home in the Lincoln Homes subdivision, while more than $8,174 is due on a 1.09 tract belonging to William Young of Stone Mountain.

Several of the foreclosed properties are in the Shannon Villas Condominium complex. One of the properties also lists Word Up Evangelistic Temple Church as the owner of an 8-acre parcel.

The sale starts at 10 a.m. July 6 and ends at 4 p.m. If necessary, the sale will continue July 7.
