State gives summer water use guidelinesThe Georgia Environmental Protection Division issues new water restrictions this week, but Cowetas leaders have yet to sign-off on the new standards. Currently, Coweta County water customers face voluntary restrictions, and customers with private wells have no restrictions. With the state starting to settle into another drought, the EPDs guidelines cover every period from mormal rainfall to sever droughts. During non-drought periods customers can water outdoors based on their addresses. Odd-numbered addresses: outdoor water use is allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Even-numbered addresses: outdoor water use is allowed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. There is no watering allowed on Friday. During a drought one situation, outdoor watering may occur on scheduled days within the hours of midnight to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.to midnight. Scheduled days for odd-numbered addresses are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Scheduled days for even-numbered addresses are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Use of hydrants for any purpose other than firefighting, public health, safety or flushing is prohibited. During the most severe level of drought, no outdoor water use is allowed, other than for exempt activities, such as lanscaping businesess. |
