Wood welcomed as new pastor at Liberty Baptist

The Rev. Randy Wood, most recently the director of personnel deployment for the North American Mission Board, was welcomed as the new senior pastor of Liberty Baptist Church on April 16.

A native of Ohio, Wood is a graduate of the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), Ohio University, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Kentucky) and Trinity Lutheran Seminary (Ohio).

After serving several churches and positions in Ohio, Wood came to Georgia in 1995 and was the associate director for the Missionary Personnel Unit, North American Mission Board (NAMB), based in Atlanta. In 1997, he was named director of the NAMB’s personnel deployment team, where he led the team in assessing missionary candidates and employing staff at the NAMB, SBC.

He was named among the “Outstanding Young Men of America” in 1983 and is a published author.

Wood and his wife, Beverly, have three sons: Joshua, a first year student at the University of Georgia; Titus, who will enter the University of Georgia this fall; and Andrew, a high school sophomore.

Liberty Baptist is on Ga. Hwy. 314 in the north Fayette/Riverdale area.
