Glenn forms advisory committeeAt a press conference last week, Dylan Glenn announced the formation of a Veterans Advisory Committee. Glenn, a Republican candidate for Georgia's 8th Congressional District, brought together the group of retired military officers at Fayetteville's historic courthouse square before a group of campaign supporters who turned out for the announcement. "I would like to thank Bo Callaway, General Wheeler and all the members of our Veterans Advisory Committee for coming out today," said Glenn during the conference. "You gentlemen have served our country proudly and bravely, and now you are choosing to serve again in the cause of good government." The press conference began with an introduction from Major General Jack Wheeler, a retired Army officer with over 30 years of service. General Wheeler also serves as the head of the Veterans Advisory Committee that will serve to provide support and advice on veterans and other military issues related to the ongoing War on Terror. Bo Callaway, honorary chairman of Glenn's campaign committee and a former Secretary of the Army during President Gerald Ford's administration, also attended and introduced Glenn during the event. Callaway serves on the Advisory Committee with some well-known national and local veterans: Dr. Leo Mackay, former Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs at the Department of Veteran's Affairs in Washington, D.C.; General William Livsey, former Commanding General of the U.S. 8th Army and a Fayette resident; Brigadier General Philip Browning, currently serving as Executive Director of the Georgia Military Affairs Coordinating Committee; Brigadier General Peter Madsen; Brigadier General Bernard Fontaine; Lt. Colonel Buck Hilliard; Major Dexter Brewer; and, Ken Mills. Wheeler, along with General Livsey, Brigadier General Madsen, and Brigadier General Browning, are Fayette County residents. "I appreciate the service this council has offered," Glenn said at the close of the press conference. "I hope to call on you many times during my own service to the 8th District and Georgia as your next United States Congressman. With your support, we will push through to victory on July 20th." |
