No one was injured when a school bus window was shattered by what police think was a shot from a BB gun in the Windsor Estates subdivision last Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

There were 25 students from Whitewater Middle School on the bus when the driver heard one of the windows shatter, said Sgt. Belinda McCastle of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. At the time, the bus was located at the intersection of Windsor Drive and Dover Court, McCastle said.

The driver didn’t know immediately what had happened and police weren’t summoned until the bus returned to the shop, said Melinda Berry-Driesbach, spokesperson for Fayette County Schools.

“The bus driver didn’t see anybody shooting at the bus,” McCastle said.

Detectives have been unable to determine where the shot came from and were not able to find any BBs inside the bus, McCastle said.
