Mayor wants to clean up SenoiaBy JOHN THOMPSON Next Saturday, residents in Senoia will be helping their neighbors spruce up the town. The cleanup is the first phase in Mayor Robert Hannahs program to help improve the quality of life in the east Coweta town, and hes come up with a catchy slogan for the effort. Not in my house, not on my street and not in my town. We want to restore pride in our community, Hannah said. Resident David Moye, who is assisting with the program said the clean-up day is only the beginning. After many of the towns homes are fixed up and cleaned, Moye said he would like to see some of the junk cars removed from the city, along with condemning and taking down abandoned homes. Suzanne Pengelly, who also works with Habitat for Humanity, said her goal was to help get the small park cleaned up in the Senoia Housing Authority area, so kids would be able to participate in summer programs this year. She also made an additional plea for more volunteers to help with the programs at the park. The next meeting of the group will be June 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Freeman-Sasser Building in the citys park. |
