She was recommended for this award by the local Beta Club sponsor, Kristin Hullinger, and Starr's Mill principal, Sam Sweat. "This outstanding young person represents the true spirit of National Beta, having excelled not only academically, but in leadership and service to school and community as well," said Dr. George W. Lockamy, executive director of the National Beta Club. Amanda is the daughter of Mark E. Young and Diane Masters Young of Fayetteville. Grandparents are George and Carolyn Masters of Fayetteville and Virgil and Joanne Young of Fort Valley, Georgia. When asked how they felt about Amanda's accomplishment, they said, "Amanda is a truly beautiful Christian young lady, both inside and out, with a positive, caring, and happy spirit that just bubbles over, and yet is one of the most diligent and hardworking people I know. She has tremendous character for such a young person, and we are immensely proud of her and her many accomplishments." |
