Stitt enrolled in prestigious program

Emma Stitt, a rising Sophomore at Starr’s Mill High School has been accepted by Duke University for its’ Talent Identification Program (TIP). Emma, along with some of the nation's brightest youngsters will attend a special academic program on Duke’s West Campus this summer for academically talented youngsters in grades eight through ten. Emma will be studying Criminal Trial Advocacy for the three week, six days a week term.

Emma is the daughter of Evan and Susan Stitt of Peachtree City. She is a member of the Starr’s Mill Women’s Chorus and recently performed at the All-State presentation in Savannah, GA. Emma studies voice performance with local vocalist Barbara Zellner. She is an active member of the A Company of Friends (ACOF), the professional Division of Fayette Coweta Family Theatre Inc. (FCFT). Emma will play the title roll in the FCFT production of Cinderella this Fall. Emma is a member of Life Teen at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and has formed a community service group of fellow teens, who will assist with the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons’ Ball in November.

Students invited to participate in Duke TIP’s summer educational program qualify based on SAT I: Reasoning Test, or the American College Testing Program Assessment (ACT) test scores. Duke TIP summer program participants achieve scores comparable to college bound high school seniors on college entrance exams. Since 1980, over one million students from all parts of the world have taken part in a Duke TIP program. The program receives support from student fees and donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
