Chess club meeting in Peachtree CityA chess club is now meeting at Joe Muggs at the Peachtree City Books-A-Million on Tuesday and Friday evenings, from 7 until 10. The group started with one person, and has grown to about 10 consistent players, but there are sometimes around 20-30 people there playing chess. Shanker Raman is the person who started the group, and he is their contact person. His phone number is (770) 632-0136, and his email is peachtreecitychess@yahoo.com. On June 5th, at 7 p.m., Martha Fierro ("Woman Chess Grandmaster") will give a chess exhibition at Joe Muggs in which she will play 30 people simultaneously. The 30 people will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis, and upon payment of a $20 entry fee. Participants are asked to bring boards and pieces. The event is free to spectators. |
