The truth about Plan B, the over-the-counter "morning-after" contraceptive

Recently the FDA denied approval to make the so-called “contraceptive” medication “Plan B” available over-the-counter.

It is currently available with a prescription, but advocates complain that since it has to be taken within 72 hours of contraception the typical office of hours of doctors make it just too inconvenient.

They also claim that it will prevent “3 million unwanted pregnancies” per year, which, considering that is the average number of abortions per year, means proponents claim Plan B will end abortion. (Does this mean that feminists are saying abortion is a bad thing which should be avoided? That would be a refreshing change from the conventional attitude of “it’s just a blob of tissue so what’s the big deal?”)

Besides the fact that history, facts, and experience show that the more contraception is made available to society the more promiscuity, venereal disease, and abortion increase, proponents of Plan B and their cohorts in the media are once again deceiving women and the American public about this medication in order to push their destructive agenda of sex, anytime, anywhere, any age.

First, proponents of Plan B call it a “contraceptive,” which is technically a device or chemical which prevents fertilization. Chemicals which attack a fertilized egg or embryo are called “abortifacients,” and do not prevent fertilization but rather attack and kill new life.

Although Plan B can in some cases act as a contraceptive by prevent fertilization, in 75 percent of cases it instead acts as an abortifacient by preventing the embryo from implanting on the wall of the woman’s womb.

So, to call this drug a “contraceptive” is an outright deception designed to fool the public into accepting its sale alongside candy bars and gum in your local convenience store.

This brings me to my second point. Why do we as a society accept so readily these constant attempts to sexualize our youth?

One of the main arguments by the proponents of Plan B as an over-the-counter drug is that it will prevent pregnancy among “11- to 14-year-olds.” Seriously.

Studies show that recently there has been a decline in teenage pregnancy and that primary reason for that is abstinence, not contraception or abortion. So what kind of message do we send to our children, now that we have begun to make some progress on this issue, when we say that you can buy abortifacient medication at your local five and dime?

Making this medication available to children is bad enough, but lying about what it is and how it work to the general public is the real crime here. When we will we wake up and realize that these heralds of complete sexual freedom for all ages are nothing but sheep in wolves’ clothing, seeking to destroy our youth, our innocence, our health, and our unborn babies for a poisonous notion of freedom?
