Fanaticism: Many ignore dangers

I just wanted to thank you for that “Up against fanaticism” editorial [The Citizen, May 5, 2004].

There are a lot of people who don’t seem to realize the danger involved. Personally I think a lot of the problem stems from TV and mass market [media]. There is a pervading sense on TV to “Do nothing, everything is fine,” and I think it’s a big mistake.

While I don’t agree with some of these out of control radio talk show hosts, I do think that Americans need a to realize that there is true evil in the world and not go about life with their heads buried in the sand. That sort of thinking cost us an awful lot during WWII.

Again, thank you and I hope that you managed to reach our leaders, who seem hell-bent on politicizing this whole thing instead of admitting what it truly is, the constant battle of good versus evil.
