Crash kills Jonesboro woman A Jonesboro woman died early Monday morning in a head-on collision on Ga. Highway 92 about two miles south of Fayetteville, according to deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. Christine A. Straughan, 18, died at the scene after her 1990 Honda Civic crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Jeep Liberty driven by Lynn A. Deroller-Mayes, 51, of Griffin, at 4:42 a.m. police said. Deroller-Mayes was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries that were believed to be non-life threatening, deputies said. It is unclear why Straughan’s vehicle crossed the center line, deputies said. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and the collision destroyed both vehicles, deputies said. The investigation into the crash is not complete but deputies do not anticipate filing any charges in connection with the wreck.
