Tourism Assn. approves contractsBy CAROLYN CARY Among items on the agenda of the Peachtree City Tourism Association was a change order to the Grant Thornton contract. The association would like to add a Section 115 to its IRS request, which is for a 501(c) 6 designation, allowing donations to the association to be tax-deductible. Its attorneys said it could cost as much as $8,500 more to modify the request. A lease agreement between PCTA and Clayton State College concerning the use of the Tennis Center building received a unanimous vote. The college is to provide a schedule of times it will be using the building so maximum use can be scheduled by PCTA. The college is to use the space solely for academic and continuing education classes. The annual rent will be $10. It was also voted on to change the lease from a one-year agreement to a two-year agreement. A merchandizing contract between PCTA and the city of Peachtree City was agreed upon, allowing the tourism association to use the citys local ad slogan on specific retail merchandise. The association will receive 85 percent of the gross sales from the sale of all merchandise. A one-year agreement with Coweta-Fayette EMC was enacted, after four gas providers were given the opportunity to provide a fixed rate per therm. It was determined that the local EMC offered the best option. Discussion was held on the issuing of credit cards to members of the tourism association. The credit card program will be administered by RBC Centura Bank. Twelve employees will be issued a maximum credit allowance from $500 to $5,000. Those traveling, such as the tennis professionals, were issued the higher allowance. Any unauthorized use by an association employee will subject that employee to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Use of the association venues came under much discussion. It was agreed that city-sponsored events will be exempt from the $1,500 fee for use of the amphitheater, for instance, but the $500 fee for cleaning and $20 an hour for an association representative to be on hand will still be charged. |
