student signs with Lee
Landmark Christian School volleyball standout Katie Thornton signs letter
of intent to play for Lee University. Katie transferred to Landmark her
junior year from Nebraska.
"
From the very first day, I knew I had been given a huge blessing" says
head coach Barb Mason of Katie. "Her athletic ability, setting skills,
incredible work ethic and leadership qualities earned Katie an immediate
starting position."
With Katie's help, Landmark was state runner-up in 2002 and won the State
Championship title in 2003.
Katie was chosen for the Senior All-Star team and the All-State team.
During her senior season at Landmark, she had 940 assists averaging 6.5
per game.
She had 300 digs, 109 aces and 58 kills. She holds a career Georgia record
of career assists per game at 4.4. Katie earned the Coaches Award at
her team banquet because of her example of character, leadership and
loyalty.
