Fulton commission creates public access TV channel

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 created a "public access" cable TV channel and a board of directors to govern it.

Acting on a resolution by District 7 Commissioner William ÒBillÓ Edwards, the Board voted unanimously to establish a television station that will provide a forum for residents of unincorporated Fulton County to air their concerns and activities.

The channel is one of four dedicated by Comcast Cable for public, educational and governmental use. Currently, Fulton County operates a government TV station (FGTV) on cable channels 21 and 23.

Facility and equipment costs for the public access channel will come from cable fees paid to Comcast by subscribers in unincorporated Fulton County. The County will not incur any costs associated with the station.
The new public access channelÕs board of directors will oversee operation, programming and production. The 9-member board will consist of seven County Commission appointees, plus a Comcast representative and the Fulton County Cable Franchise Manager.
