Groundbreaking next week on huge Fairburn projectBy JOHN THOMPSON One of South Fultons largest developers will break ground on a new project Tuesday, and residents in Peachtree City and Tyrone may soon feel the impact. Renaissance at Southpark will be a mixed-use development featuring retail and residential uses. Located at the southeast corner of Ga. Highway 74 and Interstate 85 in Fairburn, Renaissance will have 25 acres of commercial property, 1,000 townhomes and 350 apartment units. The property is being developed by Jay Knight of the Knight Group. This is one of the biggest developments in our area, said South Fulton Chamber President John Boothby. Development along the interstates keeps going in South Fulton County, with shoppers still flocking to the huge Camp Creek Marketplace on Interstate 285. The development is bound to have an impact on Fayettes commuters who wage a morning battle trying to get onto Interstate 85 near the new development. Boothby is pleased to see quality development continuing to head south of interstate 20. Jay Knight continues to look forward and see the potential in South Fulton, Boothby said. |
