“Fun, Fun, Fun” at “The Fred”

It’s been an endless summer for the Beach Boys since they released their first song, “Surfin” way back in 1961. Mike Love, along with his cousins Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson and buddy, Al Jardine created a sound which embodied all that was American youth.

Setting off a wave of imitators, no one quite captured the feeling of beautiful beaches and sunshine the way these musical prodigies did. A constant stream of hits including “California Girls”, “Help Me Rhonda”, “Good Vibrations”, “I Get Around”, “Do It Again”, “Kokomo”, and others too numerous to list here kept the airwaves afloat through the 60’s and on into the decades that followed. Of course, all this is nothing new to anyone with a good set of ears and a radio.

The Beach Boys signature harmonies and easy rockin’ beats are still recognizable as the sound of America at its most innocent. Lucky for their fans, their live show has been spreading the love year after year and this weekend Peachtree City gets another dose when their show returns to the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheatre Friday and Saturday.

Mike Love heads up another generation of surf dudes to recreate memorable moments from the vast catalog of tunes in their repertoire. Beach Boy-vet Bruce Johnston (vocals/keyboards), Mike Kowalski (drums), Adrain Baker (guitar/vocals), Chris Farmer (Bass/vocals), Tim Bonhomme (Keyboards/vocals), John Cowsill of The Cowsills (keyboards/vocals/percussion) and Scott Totten (guitar/vocals) will have “Fun, Fun, Fun” rockin’ at “The Fred.”

In addition to touring with the band, Mike Love’s longtime concern for environmental causes led to him creating the Love Foundation which supports national and environmental initiatives.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and includes over 30 of the Beach Boys hit songs. Get a jump on the summer by attending this hot event.

The identity of the August 27-28 “Mystery Guest” will be revealed before the shows.
