Head named top player in stateMiles Head of Brooks was voted the 11/12 year old Baseball Player of the Year in Georgia for 2003 by the American Amateur Baseball Congress. Head is a member of the Georgia Mud Dogs, a travel team that competes in local, regional and national tournaments. The Player of the Year Award is determined at the end of the season and presented to the player the following spring. In 2003, the Mud Dogs won their way to state and regional playoffs where Head was also selected Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Head has been playing for the Mud Dogs for six years where they have won a state championship and World Series. Head has also played tournaments with Team Tallhassee and the Albany A;s and was selected MVP at the Triple Crown National Tourney last fall in St. Augustine, Fla. In 2003, Head batted .624 with 75 HR and 158 RBIs in 100 games. Head and the Mud Dogs are off to a great start in 2004. He is batting .631 with 16 HR and 61 RBI through 40 games. The teams record is 35-4 and they have won four tournaments so far this year. Head is the son of Beverly and Mike Head.
