Lightning loses first road game, drops to 5-3

The Southern Crescent Lightning had been hot on the road but that ended Sunday when they fell 89-76 to the Kentucky Reach.

Last Thursday, the Lightning took on the Macon Blaze on the road and won 92-90. The team got huge performances from Marcus Taylor and Lamont McIntosh, as each of them chipped in 23 points. In Sunday’s game, Derrick Allen was the leading scorer with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor contributed 16 points, but it was not enough to avoid the team’s first road loss on the season.

Now the Lightning will try to make that their only road loss as they have two games against the Jackson Rage on the road this weekend. Jackson defeated the Lightning 80-65 May 8 in Peachtree City. The Rage is currently at the top of the WBA standings, with the Lightning close behind them. A good weekend coud put the Lightning on top of the league.

After the games this Friday and Sunday in Jackson, the Lightning will play Tuesday at Raleigh and Wednesday at Bristol before heading home to take on Raleigh at 7 p.m. May 29 and Bristol at 4 p.m. May 30.
