Nix named Landmark ADLandmark Christian School Headmaster Matt Skinner has announced the selection of Kevin Nix as the schools new athletic director. Nix has been a math teacher and baseball coach at Landmark Christian for the past year. Prior to coming to Landmark, Nix served as Athletic Director for Whitefield Academy in Mableton and Shades Mountain Christian in Birmingham, Ala. While at Whitefield, Nix guided the athletic program through its inaugural varsity football and baseball seasons and a state championship basketball season. He is a graduate of Presbyterian College, where he played football and baseball. Nix is stepping into big shoes and a tremendously successful program. Landmarks former athletic director, Rick Burlingame, was named the 5-A Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Athletic Director of the Year for the past four years and the State A Athletic Director in 2002-2003. In Landmark Christian Schools 12 years as members of the GHSA, the school has earned 60 Area/Region Championships and 22 State Championship titles. Landmarks athletic department supports 40 middle and high school athletic teams each year. Nix is excited about the opportunity and challenge of taking on Landmarks successful athletic program. His goal is to serve as a strong foundation of support and a resource for his excellent staff of coaches. Nix will work hand in hand toward this goal with the assistant athletic director for girls, Barb Mason. Mason is an 11-year veteran P.E. teacher and coach at Landmark Christian School. She has coached five region champions, two state runners-up, and two state championship volleyball teams. This is Masons second year as assistant athletic director for girls. |
