Sheriff: Alcohol might have been involved in motorcycle crashA Sharpsburg man was seriously injured after his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle on Westbridge Road in north Fayette County Friday night, police said. Samuel C. Bass, 29, of 68 Stone Mount Ct. is expected to survive although he was last reported in intensive care at Atlanta Medical Center, said Capt. Bryan Woodie of the Fayette County Sheriffs Department. The wreck occurred at 9:27 p.m. after a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Tracey Denise Paschal, 17, turned onto Westbridge Road from Westbridge Court. Basss 1999 Triumph motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the Explorer, and he landed over 200 feet from the point of impact, Woodie said. Although Paschal stopped at the stop sign, she failed to yield to Bass, Woodie said. Paschal, of 100 Westbridge Circle, was charged with failure to yield, Woodie said. Further charges are pending because there is evidence that Bass was under the influence of alcohol, Woodie said. A decision on the charges will be made after blood alcohol results come back from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab, Woodie added. |
