An Atlanta firm has been selected to assist Peachtree City with traffic and transportation engineering services on a contract basis.

The contract, which is capped at $100,000 for the year, will be used for assistance with several transportation projects including:

• Design of a roundabout for the intersection of Walt Banks Road and Peachtree Parkway.

• Analysis of turn lanes on Peachtree Parkway.

• Research support for the redevelopment of the city’s traffic calming policy.

• Staff support for an update to the city’s thoroughfare plan.

By contracting with just one firm, this keeps the city from having to advertise for assistance each time such issues pop up, said City Engineer Troy Besseche.

A total of 21 firms responded to the city’s initial advertisement for the contract, and of the four finalists, QK4 was unanimously ranked the best overall according to the selection criteria, Besseche said.

City Manager Bernie McMullen said the funds would come from the budgets for the projects once they are approved by council.

Council unanimously approved the contract at its meeting last week.
