Mother's Day crash fatal to SMHS sister, brotherBy JOHN MUNFORD A Fayetteville girl and her brother were killed Sunday afternoon in an auto crash on I-185 in Troup County, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Jillian Wagner, 18, and Charles Wagner, 16, died in the crash after she lost control of her 2001 Jeep Cherokee while attempting to pass other vehicles, said Trooper First Class Larry Schnall. The Wagners both went to Starrs Mill High School where Jillian Wagner was set to graduate this year. Charles Wagner was a member of the junior class. Grief counselors were made available to students and staff of the school Monday, said schools spokesperson Melinda Berry Dreisbach. Although the Wagners were wearing their seatbelts, according to evidence on the scene, both were ejected from the vehicle, Schnall said. After Jillian Wagner changed lanes to pass other vehicles, the SUV began to spin clockwise before she tried to correct the spin, sending the vehicle counter-clockwise, Schnall said. The SUV then flipped over several times, crossing into the median and coming to rest on the drivers side door, Schnall added. The wreck occurred at 3:30 p.m. near the Pine Mountain exit on I-185 in Troup County, Schnall said.
