Tea scheduled for May 16

Readers, save Sunday May 16 for a very special event. On that date the McIntosh Chapter of The Daughters of the British Empire invite you to afternoon tea and a delightful stroll through historic Dunaway Gardens near Newnan. The McIntosh Chapter, comprised of women with British heritage, is a charitable organization, principally raising funds for The Mountbatten House retirement home in Texas, but also donating to local charities in Coweta and Fayette counties from which it draws the majority of its members. Dunaway Gardens on Roscoe Road is the beautiful location for this British Afternoon Tea, promises to be resplendent in May. Come wander along sunny pathways through antique roses, surrounded by wisteria-laden trees. Relax on patios, shaded by giant oaks. Enjoy the serenity of tumbling falls and quiet, reflective pools set amidst lush plantings of azaleas, mountain laurel, ferns, hosta, ivy and hemlock. From the Japanese Garden glimpse migratory birds in the wetlands stretching below or stroll to the majestic Wedding Tree, a stately oak over 200 years old and favorite spot where lovers have tied the knot for 75 years. Learn about the rich artistic history of this magnificent treasure, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and all this whilst enjoying a scrumptious afternoon tea.
