Patriots get three wins in three daysBy MICHAEL BOYLAN Though they had been eliminated from postseason play, the Patriots from Sandy Creek have been battling as the season nears its end. They played and defeated Pebblebrook last Wednesday, Lithia Springs Thursday and Forest Park Friday. Brandon Swann picked up the win for the Patriots, giving up two hits and one run in relief of freshman Robert Jaracz. Sandy Creek trailed the Falcons 13-6 in the fifth but rallied to score 10 runs in the remaining innings to win 16-14. Phillips Sims and Chad Owens both went 2-for-3, while Eli Williams went 2-for-4. Sandy Creek pounded out 12 hits and their come from behind effort carried over into their next game. Sandy Creek came back against Lithia Springs and won 7-6. Chad Brooks pitched a complete game for the win and struck out four batters. Brent Brewer hit a two-run home run, Dusty Bennett drove in a run and Carlos Vasquez scored three times in the Patriots second win in two days. Fridays game against Forest Park saw Sandy Creek lead from the get go. Bennett and Owens each had an RBI, Kel Cudsik hit a home run and Brandon Lamb picked up the win, giving up four hits. The Patriots finish their season this week today at North Clayton at 5:30 p.m. |
