Help seniors of Fayette County

Fayette Senior Services is looking for volunteers to help with the needs of our senior population. As the number of seniors grows in Fayette County, so does the need to help them stay active and independent. You can help by becoming a volunteer in one of the following programs:

• Meals On Wheels. Deliver meals one day a week.

• Frozen meal delivery. Deliver frozen meals one day per week.

• Volunteer drivers. Drive seniors to medical appointments, shopping etc. A minimum of 5 hours a week. You pick your on-call day.

• Medicare-approved drug discount card volunteers. Counsel seniors regarding the new Medicare prescription card program.

• Friendly Visitor and Phone A Friend. Agree to visit or phone a homebound senior on a weekly basis.

• Friendship Center. Help in the Center with games, crafts, activities and lunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. one day per week.

The Frozen Meal delivery, Volunteer Drivers and Medicare-Approved Drug Discount Card Volunteers programs are all new volunteer programs.

For more information on volunteering for any of these programs, phone Nancy Britton, volunteer coordinator for Fayette Senior Services at 770-461-0813 or 770-253-0882.
