Drug suspect fails to give deputy the slipBy JOHN MUNFORD A vehicle pulled over for a broken tail light ultimately led to a felony drug arrest for the Fayette County Sheriffs Department early Sunday morning, police said. As the deputy began to pull the car over on Ga. Highway 314 near Kenwood Road, he noticed an object was thrown from the passenger window, said Sgt. Belinda McCastle. The object, a plastic baggy, contained suspected marijuana and cocaine, she said. Sedrick Delmond McCombs, 24, of 267 Raymond Hill Road, was charged with one felony count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and one felony count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, McCastle said. Additional felony charges of obstructing a police officer and battery on a police officer was added because after McCombs turned around to be handcuffed, he struggled with the deputy in an attempt to get away, McCastle said. The deputy held onto the handcuffs, which were locked onto one of McCombs wrists, until another deputy could help get him under control, McCastle added. Deputies also found more than $700 on McCombs during the arrest, McCastle noted. |
