SCAT sends 8 to Junior Nationals

Eight members of the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team in Peachtree City recently traveled to Orlando to compete against some of the best swimmers in the nation.

Representing SCAT at the NSCA Junior National Championship meet were Lauren Cartwright, Noah Copeland, Mackenzie Garrot, Billy Jamerson, Chris Lee, Thomas Lucak, Nicole Roddenbery and Brittany Stevens. With more than 150 teams competing, SCAT was able to finish in 15th place overall, making an impact on the national swimming scene.

Jamerson swam to the national championship and set a new record in the 50-yard breaststroke. He also took first-place honors in the 100-yard breaststroke and narrowly missed world record holder Ed Moses’ 100-yard breaststroke meet record. Jamerson finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Roddenbery swam to an eighth-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly. Cartwright placed seventh in the 200-yard individual medley.

The ladies’ relay team of Roddenbery, Cartwright, Stevens, and Garrot swam strong in both the 200- and 400-yard medley races. The men’s relay team of Lucak, Jamerson, Lee, and Copeland finished 16th in the 400-yard medley.
