Walker earns senior designation

Of the hundreds of thousands of agents who hold a real estate license in this country, Stephen Walker has just joined an elite group of only 7,000 who hold their Senior Real Estate Specialist designations. The SRES is offered by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council, an organization based in California that helps Realtors do target marketing to this population group as well as providing Realtors with special reports geared toward seniors’ concerns with buying and selling residential real estate.

Walker said he wanted to assist older Americans with making wise decisions when it comes to selling a family home, buying rental property, or managing capital gains and other tax implications. He is the second Prudential Georgia Realty agent and one of only a handful of other metro Atlanta Realtors to hold the SRES designation.

According to the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, the number of people age 65 and older in Georgia is growing twice as fast as the growth rate estimated for younger individuals. As of 2002, there were more than a half million seniors in the metro Atlanta area, a group large enough that it would be among the 25 largest cities in the U.S.

A big believer in staying tuned in to the ever changing real estate market and being fully informed to assist his clients, Stephen Walker’s other real estate training and designations include the Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR), Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), and the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

Actively involved in his profession, Stephen is the 2004 president of the Fayette chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors, belongs to the Fayette County Board of Realtors, and the Georgia and National Associations of Realtors.
