Wieland names Biele senior VP of land acquisition

Charlie Biele has joined JWH&N as senior vice president of land development in a move that positions the company for further success and expansion.

Wieland is currently building in 60 neighborhoods across the southeast including Atlanta; Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Charleston, S.C. Founded by John Wieland in 1970, Atlanta-based John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods marked the end of its record-breaking fiscal year in September with gross revenues of $605 million and 1608 homes closed in 2003.

As senior vice president of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, Biele is directly responsible for the company’s land development operations. He is also integrally involved in key strategic implementation efforts including major land acquisitions as well as new project conceptualization and positioning.

Biele has over 18 years experience in all aspects of real estate development, acquisition and sales. Prior to joining the company, he spearheaded MDC Homes land acquisitions and development for the Atlanta and Greenville markets representing over 1,500 annual home closings. He previously served as senior vice president and general manager for Pathway Communities in Peachtree City as well as vice president and general manager for Terrabrook and Mobil Land Development Corporation in Atlanta and the Washington, D.C. area.

Biele has had previous management responsibilities for a number of high profile master-planned communities, including Reston (7,400 acres) in Virginia as well as Windward (3,400 acres) and Windermere (1,400 acres) in Georgia.

He graduated with an MBA in finance and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. He is also a licensed professional engineer. His professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the National Association of Homebuilders. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of both the North Fulton county Chamber of Commerce and the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.
