Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Jamie K. Inagawa has announced he will seek election as the top prosecutor of the Fayette County State Court.

Inagawa, 31, of Peachtree City, is seeking the position that is being vacated by current Solicitor-General Steve Harris, who is running for a Superior Court judgeship.

He will be facing Lura Landis, who is currently Assistant Solicitor General working under Harris.

As an assistant district attorney for the past five years, Inagawa has handled criminal cases at the felony level, handling jury trials, plea negotiations and appeals matters. The solicitor general handles misdemeanor criminal cases which are punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a fine.

Cases typically handled by the solicitor general range from traffic offenses and property damage to theft, drug offenses and violent crimes.

“I have worked hard for victims, their families and law enforcement officers to make sure that criminals serve long sentences,” Inagawa said. “Now, I am asking the citizens of Fayette County for the opportunity to bring my skills, dedication and experience to the office of Solicitor-General.”

Inagawa’s wife Lisa, is a family law attorney in Peachtree City.
