Easter weekend starts bright and early tomorrow morning in Palmetto with the 13th annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Palmetto City Park. Bring the little ones. Bring the grandchildren. There will be lots of activities along with the hunt for colorful prize eggs. Face painting, a giant slide, moon walk, the cannonball express, games and refreshments are all sure to be part of the fun. The festivities start at 9:30 a.m., come rain or shine.

Perhaps not as much fun as Easter eggs, on Monday, the fire department will begin inspecting and flushing all fire hydrants in Palmetto. Running through April 23, the inspection may cause discoloration in the water. It is advised that faucets should be flushed until they run clear. Checking the water before washing any clothes is also recommended. The fire department thanks everyone for their patience at this time.

Additionally, there will be a free trash pick up April 19 through April 30. Tree limbs, bagged leaves, and yard debris are acceptable for this one-time service. The city will not pick up furniture, appliances, building materials or logs. Bagged leaves must be in biodegradable paper bags. A work order must be submitted to City Hall. For more information about any of these events please phone city hall at 770-463-3377.
