Coweta-Fayette EMC sponsors learning program Last weeks inaugural performances and Sunday art exhibit at thCoweta-Fayette EMC and Discovery Channel School, a division of Discovery Channel, are providing middle school students with an exciting way to learn about electricity. The EMC teamed up with Discovery Channel to provide a comprehensive electricity curriculum kit for the middle school classroom. This kit is correlated to National Science Education Standards and is designed specifically for middle school students and teachers. It teaches a real-world understanding of the power and purpose of electricity and explains the vital role cooperatives played in bringing power to rural America. In support of its ongoing commitment to community service, Coweta-Fayette EMC has launched the Get Charged! program to give students an opportunity to learn about electricity. We are delighted to provide these materials to our middle schools, said Mary Ann Bell, director of public relations for Coweta-Fayette EMC. This program is just a continuation of our ongoing safety programs that are available for elementary and middle school students. This project is made possible because Coweta-Fayette is a part of Touchstone Energy, a national branding alliance that helps co-ops communicate their unique relationships with their consumers, educate employees, build relationships with their member-owners and raise awareness about co-ops in general. This educational initiative is just one more way your local EMC demonstrates its commitment to the communities it serves. Coweta-Fayette EMC is a consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to 62,000 consumers in Coweta, Fayette, Heard, South Fulton, Meriwether, Clayton, Spalding and Troop counties.
