Easter Worship Services

Christians in the Fayette area will join Christians around the world this week as they celebrate Holy Week and Easter Sunday, remembering the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ during Holy Week, and celebrating his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

The following churches have announced their Easter events.

Eight churches will participate in a Community Good Friday service beginning at noon and continuing until 1:30 p.m. on April 9, at Peachtree City United Methodist Church on Robinson Road in Peachtree City. Worshipers may come and go as their schedules permit.

· Atlanta City Church will present a dramatic Easter Production "Quest For Reality," Saturday, April 10 at 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday at 8:30 and 11 a.m. The church is at 3355 Old Jonesboro Rd., Fairburn. For information, call 770-964-2138.

· Bethany United Methodist Church will have a Maundy Thursday service, April 8 at 6:15 p.m., featuring a Seder meal in the Fellowship Hall. On Saturday, April 10, children are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 11, will begin with a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast at 7 a.m., and a worship service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. · The Body of Christ Church International, U.S.A., will have a Resurrection Celebration on Good Friday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m.The church is at 3650 Flat Shoals Rd. College Park. For information, call 770-472-4800.

· The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel, will have Mass on Holy Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m., which will include the washing of feet. Good Friday Mass, April 9, will be held at 7 p.m. On Holy Saturday, April 10, at noon, the food for the Easter meal will be blessed. That evening at 8 p.m., there will be an Easter Vigil Mass. On Easter Sunday, April 11, Masses will be celebrated at 8 and 10:30 a.m. St. Gabriel's is at 152 Antioch Rd., Fayetteville. For information, call 770-461-0492.

· Christ Our Hope Lutheran will have Maundy Thursday communion services at noon and 7:30 p.m., with hot cross buns served following the evening service. A nursery will be available for the 7:30 p.m. service. At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 9, the church will have a Good Friday Service of Tenebrae. A nursery will also be available for this service. Easter Sunday services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m., with a home-cooked Easter breakfast served by the youth groups at 9:30 a.m. Christ Our Hope is at 2165 Ga. · Members of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will join members of the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City for a Maundy Thursday service with Holy Communion at 7 p.m. Members also will join with the community Friday for the Community Good Friday service at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church. At 4:15 p.m. Friday, members will meet in the parking lot of Christ Our Shepherd for the Cross Walk. At 8 p.m. that evening, there will be a Tenebrae service with a Prayer Labyrinth to follow. Easter Vigil will begin Saturday, April 10, at 7 p.m. Sunday morning, Easter services will begin with a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. at the outdoor fountain. Regular Easter services will be held in the sanctuary at 8;30, 10 and 11;30 a.m. Praise services will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The church is on the corner of Ga. · Christ's Church at Whitewater will have a Last Supper reenactment and communion service on Maundy Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. On Good Friday there will be a Seder dinner and Passover presentation by Light of Messiah Ministries at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8. Easter Sunday services will be at 9:30 and 11 a.m. The church is at 1577 Ga. Hwy. 85 South, next to Whitewater Middle School. For information, call 770-461-1487.

· Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church will have Easter services Sunday morning at 8 and 10 a.m. The church is on Ga. Hwy. 34, between Peachtree City and Newnan. For information, call 770-252-2428.

· Covenant Presbyterian Church will have a Good Friday service on April 9 at 7 p.m., featuring a joint evening communion service with other churches in the area. On Easter Sunday, April 11, at 8:30 and 11 a.m., Easter services will be held, featuring special music. A breakfast reception will be held at 9:30 a.m. between services, with fruit, rolls, beverages and fellowship. Covenant is at 819 Ga. · Edgefield Baptist Church will have a Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m. on April 9. Easter Sunday will feature a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m., church school at 9 a.m., Zion Youth Ministry at 10 a.m. and morning worship at 11 a.m. Edgefield is at 140 Church St., Fayetteville. · The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will have a Maundy Thursday service Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m., with celebration of the Eucharist and washing of feet. On Good Friday, April 9, from noon-3 p.m., several clergy from local churches will participate in the reflection on the seven last words of Christ (held next door at St. Gabriel's Catholic). At 3 p.m., parishioners will observe "The Way of the Cross," in the Garden of Resurrection. At 7 p.m., The Solemn Liturgy including Passion of St. John, Solemn Prayers, and Veneration of the Cross will be observed at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday, 6 a.m., Great Vigil of Easter, followed by breakfast at 8 a.m. On Easter Sunday, parishioners will celebrate the Festal Services of Holy Eucharist at 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. All outdoor services will be held indoors in case of bad weather. · Fayette Presbyterian Church will have Maundy Thursday worship with communion on April 8 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Good Friday worship will be held from noon-2 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. and will feature Jesus' walk and Stations of the Cross. · Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will have a Maundy Thursday communion service Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. A Good Friday service will be held Friday, April 9, at 8 p.m. in the chapel, and Easter Sunday services are scheduled for 8:30, 9:45 and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. The church is at 175 E. · First Christian Church of Tyrone will have Easter communion on Maundy Thursday, April 8., at 7 p.m. On Saturday, children in fifth grade and younger are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. The church is at 294 Jenkins Rd., Tyrone. · Griffin First Assembly of God will present "The Triumph of Christ", a passion play, Friday and Saturday, April 9 and 10 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 11 (Easter Sunday) at 6 p.m. Childcare will be provided for children three years of age and younger. · Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will have Masses at 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. Holy Thursday will feature a children's Mass at 4 p.m., followed by a Mass (bilingual) of the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m. At noon on Good Friday, Holy Trinity parishioners will join others in the community for the Good Friday community service at Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Stations of the Cross at Holy Trinity will be at 4 p.m. that afternoon. An English version of the Service of the Lord's Passion will be at 7 p.m., Friday evening, followed by the Spanish version at 8:30 p.m. Easter Vigil will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday, April 10. Easter Sunday Masses will be celebrated at the church at 7:30, 9 and 10:30 a.m., and at noon. At 1:30 p.m., a Spanish Mass will be celebrated. There will be no evening Masses on Easter Sunday. Hot dogs will be served. On Easter Sunday, April 11, a service at 8:30 a.m. will feature communion and "Blooming of the Cross." At 9 a.m., there will be a continental breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. Easter worship service in the sanctuary will be at 11 a.m., and will feature the Easter Cantata, "At the Cross," performed by the North Fayette Singers. · Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will have a Maundy Thursday service at 8 p.m. on April 8. On Good Friday, there will be a Tenebrae service at 8 p.m. On Saturday, April 10, all children through second grade are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Easter Sunday activities will begin with a Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. in the Outdoor Peace Chapel, followed by early Easter communion in the sanctuary at 8:15. A contemporary Easter Communion service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Life Center, and A traditional Easter Communion service will be held in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. Prince of Peace is on Ga. · Southside Baptist Church will have an Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, for children ages 2-12 The church is at 1332 Ga. Hwy. 92 South, Fayetteville.

· St. Andrew's In-the-Pines Episcopal Church will have Easter Vigil Saturday, April 10, beginning at 9 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be at 7:30, 9:15 and 11 a.m. The church is at 316 Peachtree Parkway North, Peachtree City. For information, call 770-487-8415.

· St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church will have Holy Week services in the tin barn on the church's property, but Easter Sunday services will be held at East Coweta High School. On Holy Thursday, April 8, there will be a service at 7 p.m. in the tin barn, with adoration until midnight in the chapel (lower level of home on the property). A Good Friday service, April 9, will be held at 7 p.m., in the tin barn. On Holy Saturday, April 10, Easter Vigil will be at 8:30 p.m. in the tin barn, with a reception following. On Easter Sunday, April 11, Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at East Coweta High School on Ga. Hwy. 154 (McCollum-Sharpsburg Road) in Sharpsburg.
