Landmark girls place high at Character Games

Landmark Christian School and Fayette County High School particpated in the Character Games Track and Field meet at Lakewood Stadium Saturday. The Lady War Eagles finished second with 60 points, while the Fayette County girls placed 10th with 27 points. On the boys’ side, Landmark placed 15th and Fayette County placed 27th.

Top-10 finishers for the Landmark girls were Sierra Hill, first in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, 14.68 and 43.10; Evette Holyfield, fourth in the triple jump, 35 feet, and eighth in the 100 meter dash, 12.45; Kristina Eden, sixth in the 1,600 and 3,200, 5:55, 12:46.46; and Lanette Fritts, third in the 400, 57.89.

The 4x100 and the 4x400 relay teams from Landmark placed first with times of 48.13 and 3:51.02.

Top-10 finishers for Fayette County’s girls were Claire Bergstrom, first in the 3,200, 12:02, and fifth in the 1,600, 5:30; Cammy Andrews, second in the high jump, 5’2” and ninth in the 400, 1:00.45; Khaneisha Pagan, seventh in the triple jump, 32’, and Michel Bangsboll, fifth in the pole vault, 7’6”.

For the boys, Landmark’s Will Bonn placed third in the 3,200, 9:47, and fifth in the 1,600, 4:32; while Fayette County’s Nathaniel Foster placed 10th in the 1,600, 4:39. Fayette County’s Kirk Palan placed ninth in the 800 meter, 2:09, while teammate Ben Landrill placed eighth in the pole vault, 12’. Landmark’s Adam Lewis took fourth in the pole vault, 13’6”, while teammate Nate Lewis took fifth in the discus, 140’. The Landmark 4x800 relay team placed ninth, 8:30.

Landmark will travel to Birmingham this Friday and Saturday for the Mountain Brook meet.

In a meet last Thursday, Fayette County’s boys and girls won in a tri-meet against Sandy Creek and East Coweta. The boys edged out East Coweta and Sandy Creek 59-57 and 49, while the girls won 55 and were trailed by Sandy Creek’s 45 and East Coweta’s 25.
