McIntosh girls win at Westminster meetBy MICHAEL BOYLAN Though the cold weather and rain made for slower times than McIntosh was used to running this year, the girls track team defeated Westminster and Spalding County last Wednesday. The Lady Chiefs scored 85 points to Westminsters 47 and Spalding Countys 32, while the boys team lost to both Spalding County and Westminster, netting only 39 points. Among the girls who scored points for McIntosh were Emily Borsare, who placed first in the 1,600 meters, 5:25 and first in the 3,200 meter with a time of 11:50, while Erica Hughey placed fourth in the 1,600, 5:46. Tiffany Grant took first in the 100-meter dash, 13.07 and third in the 400 meter, 1:07; while Alyssa Anderson won the 400 meter, 1:02 and placed second in the 300 meter hurdles, 56.08. Desiree Williams won the 100 meter hurdles, 18.88, placed third in the 100 meter dash, 13.64 and second in the long jump, 151. Elizabeth Hale won the high jump, 52, placed second in the triple jump, 301 and second in the 200 meter, 28.47, while Amanda Crawford placed fourth in the high jump, 46, third in the long jump, 15 and first in the triple jump, 331.5. Haley Carney placed fourth in the 800 meter, 2:42 and third in the 300 meter hurdles, 58.89. Jessica Weaver placed first in the discus, 825 and second in the shotput, 2811. Other winners for the girls were Anne Buckle, third in the 200 meter, 30.94; Skylar Johnson, third in the 800 meter, 2:41, Melissa Anderson, third in the 3,200 meter, 12:51 and Danielle Crawford, tied for second in the triple jump, 301. The 4x100 relay team of Grant, Williams, Johnson and Alyssa Anderson placed first, 52.52 and the 4x400 meter team of Melissa Anderson, Kristy Espiau, Hale and Hughey alos placed first, 4:36. Among those who scored points for the boys were Cameron Hall, first in the 100, 11.16, first in the shot put, 395.75, third in the discus, 1012; Seth Yetter, first in the high jump, 61, second in the long jump, 187 and fourth in the triple jump, 381; Ryan Downey, first in the 400, 53.74; Francois Pienaar and Mike Massengale, third and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles, 50.44, 52.13; David Knight, fourth in the discus, 971 and Brian Haun, second in the high jump, 58. The 4x100 team placed second with a time of 46.48. McIntosh is off this week for spring break but is scheduled to take on Fayette County April 14. The meet was postponed earlier this season due to inclement weather. |
