Starrs Mill tracksters take first in quad meet By MICHAEL BOYLAN The Starrs Mill boys and girls track team hosted Mundys Mill, Union Grove and Woodward Academy on Wednesday afternoon and won the entire meet. The girls took first with a score of 72.50 over Mundys Mill in second with a score of 63.5, while the boys won with a score of 80, 23 points better than Union Groves 57. Top five finishers for the girls were Aneesha Lane, first in the 100 and 200 meter dash (12.01 and 26.37); Kursten Carr, fourth in the 400 (1:02.93) and first in the 800(2:26.53); while other top five finshers in the 800 were Ginny Balkcom (2:29), Ginny Hyer (2:30.74) and Stephanie Thayer (2:48.71). In the 1,600 meters Kristin Horton placed second (5:42.78) and Hyer placed third (5:51.91), while Kristin Olson placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.23) and Lindsey Wilckens placed third (17.35). The 4x100 relay team placed fourth (53.09) and Amy Gress took first in the pole vault (8 feet), followed by Guertin in second place (76). Lane took third in the long jump (147) while Angela Garza took first in the shot put and discus (2811.25 and 956) and was followed by Jenny Norman (281.25 and 823). Antonio Scott was first in the 100-meter dash (11.69) and Branden Lewis came in fifth (12.10). Davey Woods won the 400 (53.06) and Bradley Connor finished third (55.03). Daniel Shankle, Steven Morrison and Sankar Sridaran placed first, second and fourth, respectively, in the 800 with times of 2:02.82, 2:05.41 and 2:10.98. The boys also captured the 1-5 spots in the 1,600 with Shankle, Bradley Morris, Austin Enriquez, Sridaran and Ryan Darr finishing with times of 4:29.64, 4:36.98, 4:42.85, 4:43.25 and 4.53.28. Will Raymond placed first in the 110 meter hurdles (17.31) and Stephen Fleming placed fifth (18.55). Michael Kursteiner placed first in the high jump (64), long jump (208) and triple jump (429), while Scott placed second in the long jump (192.5) and Fitzpatrick placed fifth in the long jump (1711). In the discus, Greg Davis placed second (1277) while Andrew Thompson placed fourth (1099). Starrs Mill will take on Woodward Academy again Apr. 14 at Woodward at 4:30 p.m.
