Wellness Center creates excitement

Heritage of Peachtree Retirement and Assisted Living Community recently expanded their wellness program by opening a new Wellness Center. Exercise is one of the easiest and most effective ways for seniors to maintain strength, better balance and stamina.

Webster’s Dictionary defines hope as “the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out well.” The members of Heriatage of Peachtree’s exercise classes strongly agree. In fact, thanks to Margaret Riggs, who came with the idea, they’ve named their group H.O.P.E. That stands for Heritage of Peachtree Exercises, and exercise they do.

Three mornings a week a dedicated group meets in the Wellness Center where Activities Director Joan Hughley, leads the group. Following classes each Monday, massage therapist Charlie Wooters provides free massages have greatly enhanced their flexibility.

Heritage walkers stretch their legs by strolling casually down the halls or utilizing the paved walking path outside where serious walkers can easily log a mile by circling the building three times. The walking path, with benches along the way, is also a wonderful way for bird-watchers to sharpen their skills. Birders get together and compare notes as they watch the skies ready to spot another feathered friend.

Heritage of Peachtree’s Wellness Center provides a safe and comfortable place for seniors to work out. Low-impact exercise classes, designed especially for seniors and their specific needs, provide residents with the latest techniques on keeping heart-healthy. Exercise videos provide specialized instruction whenever a work-out at their leisure. The exercise room is open 24 hours a day and residents have the freedom to take full advantage of the equipment whenever they wish.
