PTC Community Action Day planning meeting is Tuesday

Several areas in Peachtree City will be getting a face lift this spring, thanks to the first-ever Community Action Day.

Coordinated by Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown and the Peachtree City Code Enforcement Department, Community Action Day will partner volunteers and organizations with people and locations that need assistance —  from seniors and families with specific needs for their homes, to local parks and facilities that could use some sprucing up.

An organizational meeting for interested volunteers and community organizations will be held at 7 p.m. March 23 at City Hall, 151 Willowbend Road

“Although Peachtree City has a reputation for affluence, we have neighbors who may need a helping hand to keep their homes and independence,” said Brown, noting that in most cases, the city government cannot perform the needed work.

“We certainly have the knowledge of the needs and can help bring them together with the hundreds of talented and giving volunteers in this great city.”

Projects submitted to date include three yards needing clean-up, two homes needing some electrical work, indoor and outdoor painting, deck repairs, the installation of shower safety bars, and gutter cleaning.

Community projects include re-landscaping at a community playground and nursing home and the cleanup of three small cemetaries.

More projects are needed and welcome. A project submission form is available at www.peachtree-city.org, and submissions will be accepted through March 19.

Individuals and organizations interested in helping on Community Action Day are invited to attend the March 23 planning meeting. At that time, participants will review and finalize the projects.
