Local Kiwanis club recognized

Numerous awards were presented at the Georgia District Kiwanis Mid-Winter Conference held Feb. 28 in Macon. Some 180 different Kiwanis Clubs are the home of approximately 8,700 Kiwanians throughout Georgia.

These clubs are subdivided into 25 separate divisions. Division 23, which consists of 8 Kiwanis Clubs in Fayette and Coweta counties, was honored as the top Kiwanis division in the state. Mick Maguire, past lieutenant governor of Division 23 and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City, was recognized as the outstanding lt. governor in the state.

The Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City was recognized as the leading State club in the Silver Category (clubs with 71 to 100 members). It also won top state honors in the weekly bulletin, annual scrapbook, and interclub competition.
