Wednesday, March 10, 2004 Neese named to Hall of Fame Fayette County has another Hall of Fame member as a resident. Jerry Neese, former Marine, retired marketing segment specialist for Georgia Power Company and currently field rep for the state of Georgia with Builders Insurance Group, was awarded the prestigious Home Builders Association of Georgia Hall of Fame Award at the associations most recent annual convention, held in Savannah. Neese moved his active membership to the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia in 2003. He has been a member of the Newton County HBA and the Greater Atlanta HBA. While a member at Greater Atlanta HBA, he chaired the Membership, Retention, Spike and Professionalism Awards Committees. He also served as a local associate vice president and on the board of directors. In 1992, he was featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for his outstanding contributions to the Greater Atlanta HBA. Until his retirement from Georgia Power in 2000, Neese was a vital part of the Home Builders Association of Georgia, serving on the board of directors, executive committee and the following HBAG committees: 1991-94 Membership Committee chair; 1994-95 Associates Council Chair; 1990-91 Government Affairs Committee; 1988-92 Codes and Energy Committee; 1990-96 Fund Raising Committee; 1994-95 Senior Officer Committee; 1995-97 Regulatory Affairs Committee; 1990-95 Education Committee; 1988-91 Public Relations Committee; 1991-98 Membership Committee Chair; 1988-98 State Director. On the national level, he chaired both the National Association of Home Builders Membership Committee and the NAHB Associate Members Committee. He is a Life Director for his tenure on the NAHB Board of Directors, and is a Gold Key Member. In addition, since 1997, he has represented the associate members interest on the NAHB Long Range and Strategic Planning Committee. In 1998, he was named the NAHB Associate of the Year, NAHBs highest honor to an associate member in recognition of outstanding industry accomplishments, association involvement, and civic responsibility. He is no stranger to community service. He has been active in the Salvation Armys Christmas Doll program; Habitat for Humanity; high school mentoring program; United Way; March of Dimes; Chamber of Commerce and Stockbridge Lions Club, to name a few. Neese lives in Peachtree City with his wife Alta. They have two grown daughters and a grandson.
