ObituariesCharles Robert Barnard Charles Robert "Bob" Barnard died Jan. 23, 2004. A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, Jane Barnard; sons, Bob Barnard, and Brad Barnard; daughters-in-law, Cindy Barnard and Barbara Barnard; grandchildren, Brittany, Bo, Brandon, Ethon, and Austin; mother, Laura Lucille Barnard, Pensacola; and a sister, Leah Barnard, Pensacola. Bettye Wells Hendrix Scarborough Bettye Wells Hendrix Scarborough, 78, Tyrone, died Feb. 20, 2004. She was born Aug. 13, 1925 in Portland, Ark. She was preceded in death by husbands, E. L. Hendrix, and L. T. Scarborough, and a son, William Randall Hendrix. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with the Rev. Dr. William "Bill" Scarbrough officiating. Interment was at the Lafayette City Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Mary H. Bagby, Tyrone, John B. Hendrix, Lilburn, Lon Scarborough, Dunwoody, and Jo Ann Engel, Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hiatt, Andrea Bagby, Kristin Hendrix, Jonathan Hendrix, Quentin Hendrix, Lacey Hendrix, Brett Hendrix, Michael Hendrix, Christopher Hendrix, Gregory Scarborough, Kristina Scarborough, Candy Campbell, and Scott Engle; and eight great-grandchildren. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Winston A. McKenzie Dr. Winston A. McKenzie, 80, Peachtree City, died Feb. 21, 2004. He was born Nov. 9, 1923 in Jamaica. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Survivors include his wife, Sheila McKenzie; children, Dr. Anne Marie Brown, Peachtree City, Dr. Bryan McKenzie, Bethesda, Md., and Carey McKenzie, Brooklyn, N. He was a 1974 graduate of Stockbridge High School and received both a bachelor's degree in Management and a master's degree in Business Information Systems from Georgia State University. He was employed as a sales engineer for Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc. He was assistant director of technology at the Stone Mountain Tennis Venue during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He was a youth soccer coach for many years and helped design the first school Website at Starr's Mill High School. He was a member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Hodges and the Rev. Betsy Haas officiating. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Elder, Peachtree City; daughters, Lauren Elder and Kelley Elder, Peachtree City; and his mother, Rollene B. Elder, Peachtree City. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Martha Frances Carlisle Martha Frances Carlisle, 85, Fayetteville, died Feb. 22, 2004. She was born March 20, 1918 in Fulton County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Scott Carlisle. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Eddie Hollis officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include her children, Larry Carlisle, Jackson, Ga., Glenda C. Mullennix, Loganville, Ga., Marcia C. Gwaltney, Senoia, and Vicki C. Graveside services were at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Father David Epps officiating. Survivors include children, Margaret Bell Archer, California, Dorothea R. Shelley, Arizona, Carol Ellen Van Winkle, Alaska; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Howard, Alabama. She was born in 1915 in Palmetto, the youngest child of William and Mattie Collins. She attended elementary and grammar school in a one-room schoolhouse and later graduated from Campbell High School, Fairburn. She married Rollin S. Fillingim in 1933 and they were married 28 years at the time of his death in 1961. She married Frank Jones to whom she was married 27 years at the time of his death in 1991. She was an excellent pianist and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Memorial services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating. Survivors include daughters, Myrna Brown, Marlene Milne, Marilyn Lenski, and Melinda Coleman; stepsons, Philip Jones, Frank Jones, and Michael Jones; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. Charles A. Nesselrotte Charles A. Nesselrotte, 86, Fayetteville, died Feb. 25, 2004. He was born Nov. 2, 1917 in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Hazel Nesselrotte. Services were at the Caballero Woodlawn Cemetery, Miami, Fla. Survivors include a daughter, Ava Wheat, Fayetteville; a sister, Viretta Priest, Indian Town, Fla.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Carl J.
