Antioch Bapt. celebrates 175 years

There are five congregations in Fayette County this year that will be celebrating 175 years as a viable church.

Antioch Baptist is proud to be one of those, and invites you to join them this Sunday, March 7.

The Rev. Jerry Garner has been the pastor of the church for the past three years. “Our service will begin at 11 a.m. and we are pleased to have Joe and Kim Stanley to sing for us,” he said. “They live in Fayette County and are well known to Baptists in the area.”

After the service the church will be serving a barbecue. Sounds of Praise, a gospel group, will perform after lunch.

“Though we’re 175 years old,” said Rev. Garner, “we’re yet a new church. We love everyone for who they are, and invite previous members and those without a church home to join us.

“We look forward to the next 175 years and are planning towards that now,” he added. “Our members reflect Christ in their daily lives, and if you visit us you’ll decide that ‘this is the kind of church I like.’”
