Final plats for the Avalon Subdivision and Trotter’s Farm Estate, Phase II were approved unanimously at Fairburn’s City Council meeting Monday night.

The 77-acre Avalon subdivision, located west of Ga. Highway 138 and south of Vicker’s Road will contain 214 residential lots. More than half, or 112 lots, will house attached units and the remaining 102 lots will be for detached units. Council inquired about sufficient entrances for the planned subdivision and were told that there would be three in all, two off of Vicker’s Road and one off of Hwy. 138.

Trotter’s Farm Estates Phase II is located on the east side of Fayetteville Road between U.S. Highway 29 and Interstate 85. The subdivision is comprised of 32 lots and is zoned R-2 Residential. At their Feb. 3 meeting, the planning commission approved the final plat and recommended approval. Mayor Betty Hannah inquired about the conservation of wildlife.

“What happened to the beaver’s house?” she said.

She was assured that 22 acres were being set aside for nature preservation.

Questions concerning entrance and exit requirements were quelled after it was pointed out only one exit is required for every 200 units. The City Council passed the request unanimously with the understanding that several minor punch list items still outstanding would be completed.

An aerial photography contract for $26,000 was awarded to Picket and Associates who will photograph the city within the next 30 days before spring growth blankets out ground details. The constant series of pictures are woven into a panoramic view. The end result is used to create engineering drawings of the town.
