Coweta liquor vote set for Tuesday Voters in unincorporated Coweta County and Sharpsburg will head to the polls Tuesday to decide if they want a cocktail with their dinner. If the measures are approved, the county and Sharpsburg would join Newnan in serving mixed drinks at restaurant Newnan currently allows mixed drinks at restaurants that have at least 50 percent of their sales in food. Last year, Commission Chairman Leigh Schlumper, who led the referendum drive for the county, said she would like the countys ordinance to mirror Newnans. In 1997, voters in the county voted down a liquor-by-the-drink referendum. In Tuesdays race, all voters in the county will be able to vote on serving alcohol in the unincorporated county. Also on Tuesdays ballot is the Presidential preference vote for the Democratic party and a non-binding vote on the state flag. Residents can choose between the state flag proposed by then Gov. Roy Barnes in 2002 and the current flag. The polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
