Local man hit by truck while walking on road, police say By JOHN MUNFORD A Fayetteville man died Wednesday morning after he was struck by a car on Bradley Drive while walking on the shoulder of the road, police said. Max Collins, 65, was hit near the entrance to the Woodgate subdivision at 9:50 a.m., according to Fayetteville police. Officers are not sure why he was in the roadway just before he was struck by a Dodge Dakota truck driven by Charles McBride of Barnesville, police said. McBride was traveling south on the road when the collision occurred, police said. Collins was taken to Fayette Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The incident is under investigation but no charges have been filed, police said.
